Briana Long has been teaching Visual Art since 2009, with much of her experience in Fine Arts Magnet schools. Ms. Long supports CCPS as one of the 3 District Visual Art Leads, serves on the Michael C. Carlos Museum’s Teacher Advisory Council at Emory University, and is certified P-12 in Art Education, as well as endorsed in Gifted Instruction. She has enjoyed the success of her many students; with 70+ of them being recognized in district and State level awards as well as going onto Art Careers themselves. Ms. Long holds a BFA from Brenau University Women’s College in Gainesville, Georgia and a M.A.Ed. in Art Education from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been awarded multiple awards herself in drawing, painting, and 3D sculpture, including a Scholastic Gold Key for Painting and The Purchase Award from Brenau University where her sculpture was inducted into their permanent collection. Her thesis for Georgia State reflects her Magnet experiences and explores the models and methods of Arts Integration. She maintains a modified TAB studio philosophy (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) in the classroom in that the methodology allows students to make artistic and creative decisions in a student-centered environment, allowing student choice whenever possible. She aims to inspire her students to be self-directed learners and creative thinkers who pursue an avid application, integration, and appreciation of the Visual Arts. Please check out her student CANVAS pages for additional information and resources.
