Mrs. McClendon

Hello, families!  I am excited to continue working with my English language learners this year here at Kay Pace!  After having the best job in the world, stay-at-home mom, I transitioned to the field of education, and have been supporting students and their families in various roles ever since.  I love to travel and I am an avid college football fan, especially of the University of Georgia, from which I received my Education Specialist (EdS) degree.  GO DAWGS!

I grew up an army brat, living all over the world, so it is no surprise that I am drawn to working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.  Also, as a second language learner myself, I understand what my students experience as they work hard toward the acquisition of English language proficiency, and I am eager to help them succeed!

The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program is a state funded language assistance instructional program that serves eligible English Learners (ELs) in grades K-12. The objective of the program is to support the development of English language proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The program's curriculum emphasizes social/instructional and academic language proficiency. It is based on the integration of the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards and the Georgia Standards of Excellence/Georgia Performance Standards.

Here, at Kay Pace School of the Arts, I will service ELs by providing small group instruction, collaborating with general education teachers and pushing into classrooms.
