Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome back to all our returning students and let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to our new families.  My name is Dr. Donna Jackson and I am the principal of “Kay R. Pace School of the Arts” formerly “Jackson School of the Arts”. The school will be located in James A. Jackson Elementary School and move to M. D. Roberts Middle School Fine Arts wing in January, 2019. Our office staff will consist of a new Assistant Principal Gisha Bayless, Counselor Gina Cannon, Secretary Beverly Holtzclaw, and Bookkeeper Tonya Jones.  The 300 hallway will house our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th classrooms and the 500 hallway will house our K, 1st, and Fine Arts classes. Our uniform colors are black/khaki bottoms and white/black top (no black on black).
We are pleased to have you as partners in this educational year 2018-2019.  As the year progresses, and as you become either more informed or more puzzled, we encourage you to call the school and talk with those who might be of help.  If your question deals with in-class events, please speak with the teacher.  If it deals with the overall program, curriculum, or activities, please contact the administration.

Please utilize the Charms website, Charmsoffice.com which is our primary source of information. Parent newsletters are sent out monthly “Paw Print” and every nine weeks “Panther Pride” throughout the school year, providing you with information about events and activities.
You will also want to look at your child’s student handbook.  It does a good job of explaining school and district expectations. By reading it you will have a better idea of what Clayton County Schools expect.
We will have Before Care (start 6:15am) and Campus Kids (end 6:30 pm), please sign up at Meet the Teacher 1:00-3:00 August 2nd.  There will be a transportation meeting at 3:00 in the cafeteria to answer questions about the move in January. Also save the date for our Student transition meeting November 15th at 6:00 pm at Jackson Elementary School. Daily student arrival will start at 7:15 am for car riders/walkers through the front entrance and dismissal at 2:15 pm for car riders/walkers. 
We are glad to have you with us this year, and we want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child experience academic, social, and emotional growth. I consider myself fortunate every year to get the opportunity to work with such a great community and staff.   
With your help and cooperation, this will be an excellent school year “Committed to High Performance”.
