SOTA audition information- Incoming Students ONLY
Audition Process: rising 3rd-5th Grade Only.
Kindergarten-2nd grade acceptance based on lottery process.
VOCAL MUSIC
*Memorize and sing first verse of "America" (America the Beautiful or America) or “Straighten up and Fly Right ”*Sing a scale - teacher directed activity *Sing tonal memory examples
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
*Students with instrumental experience: Prepare a short piece on the instrument of their choice *Participate in teacher-directed activity * Students with no instrumental experience will participate in teacher lead rhythmic assessment
DANCE
*Perform a prepared technical dance solo (Ballet, jazz, contemporary) BRING CD OR TAPE- cell phones / youtube may not be used for music. *Participate in a teacher-directed activity *Students should come dressed in appropriate dance attire – No Jeans
THEATRE
*Memorize and perform a 60 second performance piece (may be either a poem or monologue, monologue preferred) All pieces must be age-appropriate, no self-written pieces are accepted. *Participate in teacher-directed activity
VISUAL ARTS
*Portfolio- Bring in three (3) examples of student’s best work *Participate in a still life drawing exercise with the teacher

*Perform a prepared dance solo any style (Ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, etc.)-BRING CD OR TAPE- cell phones may not be used for music. *Participate in a teacher-directed activity *Students should come dressed in appropriate dance attire – No Jeans
